Jesuit Pope and re-uniting Christianity

RECENTLY I watched a video posted on the internet about a man called Bishop Tony Palmer, who is a tongues-speaking Pentecostal, a charismatic, an Evangelical and also Catholic father all-in-one. He seems to have a personal relationship with Pope Francis and is an envoy for the Pope carrying a special message to a gathering of Pentecostal leaders in the United States assembled by Kenneth Copeland. Tony Palmer was delivering a message of ‘reconciliation’ from the Vatican.

He used statements like “I believe God has brought me here in the spirit of Elijah … to turn the hearts of the sons to the fathers, to prepare the way of the Lord … The spirit of Elijah is a spirit of reconciliation. If you’re born again you’re Catholic (meaning worldwide, which is true.) He calls the Protestant movement “Luther’s Protest” (It really was not. Luther was one of the many reformers). He adds that “Diversity is divine, division is diabolical” which is not true because the Word of God is like a two-edged sword, it divides between truth and error.

He further says, “It’s the glory that glues us together, not the doctrines … God will sort all our doctrines upstairs”, meaning when we get to heaven. This is a diabolical statement on its own because if there is to be any unity among churches at all, it has to be based on sound biblical doctrine. He continues to hint that the protest was by Luther only and as if Luther protested on one item only instead of the 95 points that he nailed on the All Saints Church door on October 31 in 1517. Should Christianity really just close their eyes and unit for the sake of it?

Charles Spurgeon once shared his opinion on the basis of Christian unity: “To remain divided is sinful! Did not our Lord pray that they may be one, even as we are one”? (John 17:22). A chorus of ecumenical voices keep harping the unity tune. What they are saying is, “Christians of all doctrinal shades and beliefs must come together in one visible organization, regardless… Unite, unite!”

Such teaching is false, reckless and dangerous. Truth alone must determine our alignments. Truth comes before unity. Unity without truth is hazardous. Our Lord’s Prayer in John 17 must be read in its full context. Look at verse 17: “Sanctify them through thy truth; thy word is truth.” Only those sanctified through the Word can be one in Christ. To teach otherwise is to betray the Gospel.”





My favorite gospel writer says, "We cannot purchase peace and unity by sacrificing the truth. The conflict may be long and painful, but at any cost we must hold fast to the Word of God" EGW (Historical Sketches 197).

It is incredible for the Pope and his envoy, Father Tony Parker, or anybody for that matter, to say that Christians should unite regardless of doctrinal differences and “God will sort all our doctrines upstairs.” What about the Catholic doctrines which are contrary to the Bible:

• Worshiping statues contrary to the second commandment of the Bible (Ex 20:4)
• Mary has no sin. The Bible says all have sinned except Jesus (Roman 3:23)
• Mary is co-mediator. Bible says only Christ is the way, the truth and the life
• Priest sacrifices Christ on the alter at Mass. Bible says Christ offered His sacrifice once for all
• Priests are a special caste. Bible says all believers are a royal priesthood and holy nation
• Believers shouldn’t know they have eternal life. Bible says All believers have eternal life (1John 5:13)
• Popes and priests are called ‘Fathers’. Bible says call no religious leader ‘father’.
• Repeat ‘Hail Mary’ and ‘our father’. Bibles says no vain repetitions.
• Confess to Priests. Bible says we must confess to God only
• Baptism of infants. Bible says before baptism, candidates must be taught, believe and repent.
• Worship on Sunday. The Bible says we worship on Sabbath (Saturday)
• What about such doctrines as the infallibility of the pope, purgatory, limbo which are all baptized paganism.

I also read somewhere that the new Pope is the first Jesuit Pope ever. Who are the Jesuits and what was/is their mandate? The Order of the Jesuits came into existence when Protestantism was in full swing and their purpose was to stop Protestants and maintain papal supremacy.

It is a historical fact that throughout Christendom, Protestantism was menaced by formidable foes. The first triumphs of the Reformation past, Rome summoned new forces, hoping to accomplish its destruction. At this time the order of the Jesuits was created, the most cruel, unscrupulous, and powerful of all the champions of popery. Cut off from earthly ties and human interests, dead to the claims of natural affection, reason and conscience wholly silenced, they knew no rule, no tie, but that of their order, and no duty but to extend its power.

The gospel of Christ had enabled its adherents to meet danger and endure suffering, undismayed by cold, hunger, toil, and poverty, to uphold the banner of truth in the face of the rack, the dungeon, and the stake. To combat these forces, Jesuitism inspired its followers with a fanaticism that enabled them to endure dangers, and to oppose to the power of truth all the weapons of deception. There was no crime too great for them to commit, no deception too base for them to practice, no disguise too difficult for them to assume. Vowed to perpetual poverty and humility, it was their studied aim to secure wealth and power, to be devoted to the overthrow of Protestantism, and the re-establishment of the papal supremacy.

When appearing as members of their order, they wore a garb of sanctity, visiting prisons and hospitals, ministering to the sick and the poor, professing to have renounced the world, and bearing the sacred name of Jesus, who went about doing good. But under this blameless exterior the most criminal and deadly purposes were often concealed. It was a fundamental principle of the order that the end justifies the means. By this code, lying, thefts, perjury, assassination, were not only pardonable but commendable when they served the interests of the church. Under various disguises the Jesuits worked their way into offices of state, climbing up to be the counsellors of kings, and shaping the policy of nations.

They became servants to act as spies upon their masters. They established colleges for the sons of princes and nobles, and schools for the common people; and the children of Protestant parents were drawn into an observance of popish rites. All the outward pomp and display of the Romish worship was brought to bear to confuse the mind and dazzle and captivate the imagination, and thus the liberty for which the fathers had toiled and bled was betrayed by the sons. The Jesuits rapidly spread themselves over Europe, and wherever they went, there followed a revival of popery.

Romanism is now regarded by Protestants with far greater favour than in former years. In those countries where Catholicism is not in the ascendancy, and the papists are taking a conciliatory course in order to gain influence, there is an increasing indifference concerning the doctrines that separate the reformed churches from the papal hierarchy; the opinion is gaining ground that, after all, we do not differ so widely upon vital points as has been supposed, and that a little concession on our part will bring us into a better understanding with Rome. The time was when Protestants placed a high value upon the liberty of conscience which had been so dearly purchased. They taught their children to abhor popery and held that to seek harmony with Rome would be disloyalty to God. But how widely different are the sentiments now expressed!

The defenders of the papacy declare that the church has been maligned, and the Protestant world is inclined to accept the statement. Many urge that it is unjust to judge the church of today by the abominations and absurdities that marked her reign during the centuries of ignorance and darkness. They excuse her horrible cruelty as the result of the barbarism of the times and plead that the influence of modern civilization has changed her sentiments.

But Catholicism does not change, even in her concessions with the Lutherans and other Protestants groups that are returning to her; the documents are worded in such a manner that she can remain the same still.

Have Christianity forgotten the claim of infallibility put forth for eight hundred years by this haughty power? So far from being relinquished, this claim was affirmed in the nineteenth century with greater positivity than ever before. As Rome asserts that the "church never erred; nor will it, according to the Scriptures, ever err " (John L. von Mosheim, Institutes of Ecclesiastical History, book 3, century II, part 2, chapter 2, section 9, note 17), how can she renounce the principles which governed her course in past ages?
Below is an excerpt of the Jesuit Extreme Oath of induction:

“I do further promise and declare that I will have no opinion or will of my own or any mental reservation whatever, even as a corpse or cadaver (perinde ac cadaver), but will unhesitatingly obey each and every command that I may receive from my superiors in the militia of the Pope and of Jesus Christ. That I will go to any part of the world whithersoever I may be sent, to the frozen regions north, jungles of India, to the centres of civilization of Europe, or to the wild haunts of the barbarous savages of America without murmuring or repining, and will be submissive in all things whatsoever is communicated to me. I do further promise and declare that I will, when opportunity presents, make and wage relentless war, secretly and openly, against all heretics, Protestants and Masons, as I am directed to do, to extirpate them from the face of the whole earth; and that I will spare neither age, sex or condition, and that will hang, burn, waste, boil, flay, strangle, and bury alive these infamous heretics; rip up the stomachs and wombs of their women, and crush their infant's heads against the walls in order to annihilate their execrable race……… and should I prove false or weaken in my determination may my brethren and fellow soldiers of the militia of the Pope cut off my hands and feet and my throat from ear to ear, my belly opened and sulphur burned therein with all the punishment that can be inflicted upon me on earth and my soul shall be tortured by demons in eternal hell forever.”

With a system that has sworn to such oaths and such a history, it does not take a rocket scientist to realise that the persuasive approach now being used is just a velvet glove hiding an iron fist. Sooner rather than later The Papal system will lose patience with Christian groups who refuse to unite and worship on her spurious man-made Sabbath (Sunday) and the gloves will come off. The Bible says at that time ‘there shall be a time of trouble; such as never was since there was a nation…’ (Daniel 12:1) - then Christian will persecute Christian.

For now she is gaining momentum and the bible also says, ‘… and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power to the beast.’ (Revelation 13:3,4) The dragon is Satan; he is the power behind this beast which the Reformers clearly identified. “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger…; (Revelation 14:9)

There are God’s children in every church system and He has a special warning to them: “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive her plagues; for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities” (Revelation 18:4,5)
