Child With Cancer Has Just One Wish - To See Pope Francis
Huffington Post | December 10, 2014
Little Grace has just one wish -- to see Pope Francis.
Thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation, a charity that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical problems, that dream may become a reality.
Grace is scheduled to visit Pope Francis at the Vatican later this month, according to CBS New York.
“I wanted to meet the Pope and I wanted to go to Rome and meet the Pope because I have really strong faith and faith has helped me through this journey and it would be cool to have a blessing by him,” the young girl from Freehold Township, New Jersey told CBS.
The 11-year-old’s battle with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma began over a year ago, according to her website. Her mom calls her “Cookie” -- and she’s turning out to be quite a tough one.
Her mantra is “You have no choice but to be Strong, but you can choose to be Happy and Positive."
Grace and her family have started the Cookie’s Crumblers Foundation to help fund research that will eliminate childhood cancers. The charity has teamed up with local businesses to help raise money.
Pope Francis has paid special attention to the sick during his general audience at St. Peter’s Square. Last November, a striking photo of Francis tenderly embracing a man with neurofibromatosis captured the attentions of his flock worldwide.
