Evangelical 'Kingmaker' Working To Vote 1000 Christian Pastors Into Political Office

Evangelical 'Kingmaker' Working To Vote 1000 Christian Pastors Into Political Office

The American Family Association's David Lane is teaming up with Republican governor Bobby Jindal to remake the face of American politics into the face of Jesus.

David Lane is one of those political strategists almost no one has heard about. A Christian evangelical extremist "kingmaker," he runs his American Renewal Project under the auspices of a certified anti-gay hate group, the American Family Association. Lane is intimately connected with many of the top 2016 likely GOP presidential candidates, including Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, Mike Pence, Rick Santorum, and Bobby Jindal.

True to his AFA roots, last year Lane wrote an op-ed demanding his followers “wage war to restore a Christian America" against "the pagan onslaught imposing homosexual marriage."

And it's Jindal whom Lane has picked to lead a January 2015 meeting of – he hopes – 1000 pastors the two will invite to the Republican governor's home state of Louisiana. Their goal? Reshape the face of American politics, from a secular one to a Christian evangelical one.
