Our World at a Crossroads
Editorial | Advent Messenger
2015 will go down as being a turning point in America. So many prophetic events are being fulfilled today. Truly, the signs of the times are speaking to us. This is the time when God's people should be praying that our eyes may be opened so we can be ready for what is to come upon the whole world as an overwhelming surprise.
“Transgression has almost reached its limit. Confusion fills the world, and a great terror is soon to come upon human beings. The end is very near. We who know the truth should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world as an overwhelming surprise" Testimon-ies, vol. 8, p. 28.
During the last couple of years, we have been witnessing on a global scale the disintegration of every political, economical, ecclesiastical and social institution. We are also seeing an increase in war, riots, inflation, disease, taxes, natural disasters and crime. These same conditions led to the fall of the Roman Empire.
We are seeing a complete reorientation of America as we have known it. Over the past 50 years, both Christians and non-Christians alike have watched with horror as the traditional Judeo-Christian values, the pillars which we hold very dear, have been abandoned one after the other. We are also seeing the two great principles of America, Protestantism and Republicanism, being replaced with Romanism and liberalism. Sadly this abandonment is occurring by the official binding pronouncement or vote of our U.S. Congress. A nation speaks by the laws that it passes, and we are witnessing a tragic moral and spiritual fall transpiring before our very eyes.
New Congressional Bill Declares Homosexual Love as a Basic Human Right
Our US lawmakers in both houses have introduced a bill not just to protect the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexual and transgender, but also to promote their lifestyle as a basic human right worldwide.
The International Human Rights Defense Act is being spearheaded in the U.S. Senate by Edward Markey of Massachusetts and in the House of Representatives by Alan Lowenthal of California.
Are the American principles of Protestantism and Republicanism truly being represented in this piece of legislation? It is one thing to tolerate and protect the rights of a minority, and it is a completely different situation when we celebrate and embolden sinners to continue in a lifestyle that is not approved by God. Our nation is in a crisis - politically, morally, economically and socially. There are issues that are dividing and tearing our nation apart and it is sad to see that a new homosexual Congressional bill is the best that our political leaders can produce for such a time as this.
Drunkenness and revelry, passion, envy, dishonesty of every sort, are represented among those who administer the laws. “Justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street and equity cannot enter” (Isaiah 59:14) Great Controversy, 586.
God forbid that we as Christians should show hostility and bitterness to anysoul who is not joined with us in the same bonds of faith and love; but rather we should be zealously seeking them and by God's grace lead them from the darkness of error to Jesus. Christ desires to stretch out His loving arms and restore lives, "that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God" (Colossians 1:10).
