It's Almost Midnight

It's almost midnight

Editorial | Advent Messenger

Prophecy is on full display here in America and around the world. The closing scenes of this world will be a time of intense prophetic activity. The distress of nations as predicted by Jesus in Matthew 24 is clearly being depicted in many breaking news headlines. There is an incredible pattern being developed before our very eyes that is in direct correlation to the warnings of the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy for these end times.

And now I have told you before it come to pass, that when it is come to pass, ye might believe” (John 14:29).

The signs of the end times are to be a source of encouragement and faith for God’s people. In fact, Jesus tells us to watch events in the world and compare them with those listed in Scripture. When we see that the Word is being fulfilled, we are to know with assurance that this world is about to end and that Jesus is about to come.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28).

God has called Seventh-day Adventists to give the Three Angels Messages to the world. For more than 150 years we have been emphasizing the prophetic aspects of Scripture and have much evidence that God has been leading His people on the path to heaven. We have not been following man or cunningly devised fables.

Peter tells us in 2 Peter 1:19-21: We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Praise the Lord that we serve a God who is neither absent nor indifferent to what we see going on in our world today. He moved upon the ancient prophets so that we could receive encouragement and hope for these end times.

We are living in the closing scenes of this earth's history. Prophecy is rapidly fulfilling. The hours of probation are fast passing. We have no timenot a momentto lose. Let us not be found sleeping on guard” (Maranatha, 106).

Our God is actively engaged in the events of this world, and He desires that His people give a warning message to wake up the precious souls He so desires to save before it is too late.

“Let the message of Christ's soon return sound forth in earnest words of warning. Let us persuade men and women everywhere to repent, and flee from the wrath to come. Let us arouse them to immediate preparation; for we little know what is before us. Let ministers and lay members go forth into the ripening fields” (Maranatha, 106).
